NGX ASI Extends Winning Run, Gains 0.41% As ARADEL, NGXGROUP Drive Market Rally

The Nigerian equities market extended its positive momentum on Tuesday, as the All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 0.41% to close at 244,304.51 points, marking a second consecutive session of gains.
The rally was led by ARADEL, which emerged the major driver of the advance, jumping 9.62% to close at N1,550.00. Heavyweight support also came from HMBNG, which added 1.53% to N345.20, and ZENITHBANK, up 1.67% to N128.00.
NGXGROUP sustained its strong run, climbing 9.95% to N179.00 — its third straight session of gains, having risen from N137.00 to N179.00 within that period.
The breweries also turned up together, with Nigerian Breweries (NB) rising 4.43% to N73.10 and International Breweries (INTBREW) up 8.50% to N10.85. OANDO added 3.92% to close at N34.50.
The gains came despite heavy losses at the top end of the market. ETI led the laggards, hitting the lower limit with a 10.00% drop to N66.60. BUACEMENT shed 2.91% to N270.00, PZ fell 9.52% to N75.10, while HONYFLOUR declined 7.14% to N15.60. JAIZBANK also lost 3.75% to close at N7.70.
Banking stocks leaned higher without much conviction. ACCESSCORP rose 1.59% to N28.70, WEMABANK gained 2.75% to N29.90, and UBA inched up 0.46% to N44.00, while GTCO, FIDELITYBK, FIRSTHOLDCO and STANBIC closed flat.
Market activity improved significantly, with turnover rising on both measures. Trading volume was up 21.38% and value traded surged 81.07%, with value notably spread across the board rather than concentrated in one or two names.
Offshore participation was also busier, spanning ZENITHBANK, STANBIC and HBMNG.
Overall, it was a session where broad-based value traded and renewed interest in previously sold names supported the headline gain, a welcome change from the thin, concentrated trading seen for most of this month.
A total of 50k units of ARADEL crossed at N1,500.20; 877k units of CAP at N102.00; and MTNN recorded three significant crosses 2.1m units at N800.00, 446.8k units at N801.00, and 162.7k units at N810.00.
