Dakar To Host 2027 NewSpace Africa Conference In April

Space in Africa, in collaboration with the African Space Agency, will hold the sixth edition of the NewSpace Africa Conference from April 19 to 23, 2027 in Dakar, Senegal.
The conference will be hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, MESRI, of Senegal.
Following five successful editions across the continent, the NewSpace Africa Conference has established itself as a leading platform for dialogue, collaboration and business development within Africa's space ecosystem.
The 2027 theme is _Building, Financing and Delivering Africa's Space Infrastructure_, reflecting a sector moving from ambition to implementation. Discussions will focus on how governments, industry, investors, development institutions and international partners can build and finance space infrastructure, develop viable commercial models and ensure investments translate into services addressing Africa's development priorities in earth observation, communications, navigation and climate monitoring.
The conference will bring together senior stakeholders including national space agencies, regulators, policymakers, commercial companies, academia and investors.
According to H.E. Dr Tidiane Ouattara, President of the Council of the African Space Agency, “Dakar 2027 will build on the progress of the NewSpace Africa Conference to bring Africa’s space community together around new opportunities for cooperation, investment and innovation.”
Senegal's selection as host reflects its growing role in the space economy. The country launched its first nanosatellite, Gaindesat-1A, in 2024, signed the Artemis Accords in July 2025, becoming the fourth African nation to do so, and hosted the inaugural AU-EU Space Dialogue in 2023.
The four-day programme will feature keynotes, panel discussions, business pitches, B2B, B2C and B2G matchmaking, side events and exhibitions.
