ASI Falls 82bps To 248,042.50 As ARADEL, MTNN Drag Index Below 250,000

The All-Share Index fell 82 basis points to 248,042.50, by far its heaviest loss of the week, with two names doing almost all the damage.
ARADEL went limit down, falling 10.00 per cent to N1,377.00, while MTNN lost 3.54 per cent to N818.00, leaving it below where it started the week.
FIRSTHOLDCO was on the counter, adding 0.81 per cent to N143.65, with ZENITHBANK up 0.52 per cent to N136.50 and DANGSUGAR recovering Wednesday's fall with a 2.19 per cent rise to N70.00; taken together, the day's gains did not come close to covering the damage from the two.
The banks roughly cancelled each other out. FIDELITYBK lost 4.96 per cent to N23.00, giving back Tuesday's gain and then some, STANBIC fell 2.38 per cent to N160.00, more than undoing Wednesday's rise, and UBA slipped 1.12 per cent to N44.00, while GTCO added 0.23 per cent to N131.80 and WEMABANK 1.47 per cent to N31.00.
Among oil names, ETERNA joined ARADEL at the floor, down 10.00 per cent to N41.40, while OANDO went the other way, rebounding 3.18 per cent to N34.05. Elsewhere, CHAMPION handed back all of Wednesday's jump with an 8.68 per cent fall to N10.00, while ETRANZACT went limit up, 10.00 per cent higher at N12.10.
Turnover rose on both measures, with volume up 10.12 per cent and value 65.55 per cent, while PRESCO took the largest share of value, almost all of it through crosses.
The brewers turned up on foreign screens for the first time this week, with GUINNESS and NB both drawing lines, while ZENITHBANK again took the largest share, with GTCO, UBA and DANGSUGAR also in the mix.
The index is back below 250,000, though it is too early to say whether this was simply two heavyweights having a bad day or the start of something broader.
