ACAMB Celebrates 30 Years of Shaping Narratives, Building Trust ... Unveils anniversary activities, reaffirms commitment to professionalism and innovation

The Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) has unveiled plans for its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of professionalism and excellence in corporate communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement in Nigeria's banking industry.
Addressing financial journalists in Lagos to unveil the anniversary programme, ACAMB President, Babajide Sipe, said the milestone offers an opportunity to reflect on the association's journey, celebrate its achievements and reaffirm its commitment to the future.
He pointed out that “Thirty years ago, a handful of professionals chose to put the reputation of the banking industry above rivalry. We are standing today on the foundation they laid, and every tree we plant here is a promise to keep building and deepen credibility,”
Sipe said the anniversary, themed “30 Years of Shaping Narratives and Building Trust,” underscores ACAMB’s conviction that communication goes beyond information transmission to creating understanding, influencing perception responsibly and building confidence among stakeholders.
He listed the Association’s key achievements over the last three decades to include the advancement of professional standards and best practices, capacity-building programmes, conferences and knowledge-sharing sessions, stronger collaboration among professionals, networking and mentorship platforms, advocacy and positive positioning of the banking industry, thought leadership, and commitment to health, wellness, environmental sustainability and community development.
As part of activities lined up for the anniversary scheduled for September 30, 2026, ACAMB’s First Vice President, Chinwe Bode-Akinwande, disclosed that the association commenced with a tree planting exercise to demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability, a Golf and Networking Experience, and will host a grand finale Gala/Awards Night.
According to her, the Gala/Awards Night will bring together professionals, industry leaders, government representatives, regulators and the media to honour individuals and stakeholders who have contributed significantly to the growth of ACAMB and the communications profession.
Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, General Secretary, Olugbenga Owootomo, said: “We have advanced standards, built platforms for learning and built strategic partnerships. Going forward, we will embrace innovation and ensure our members are equipped for the future of communication.”
Second Vice President, Morolake Philip-Ladipo, said the Association’s journey reflects the power of collaboration. “From modest beginnings, we have become a community that shares knowledge, supports one another and speaks with one voice for the banking industry. That spirit of collaboration will drive our next chapter,” she said.
Treasurer, Unoaku Temitope Anyadike, noted that the anniversary activities reflect ACAMB’s holistic values. “Our activities, from tree planting to wellness and fitness initiatives, show we care not just about professional excellence but also about environmental sustainability, community development and the well-being of our members,” she said.
On his part, Publicity Secretary, Abiodun Coker, said trust remains the cornerstone of the profession. “Trust is the most valuable asset any organisation can possess. In 30 years, ACAMB has shown that effective communication is about creating understanding and strengthening relationships between banks and the populace,” he stated.
Looking to the future, Sipe said ACAMB remains committed to staying relevant and innovative in the face of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital media and changing stakeholder expectations, while upholding professionalism, integrity and credibility.
“The 30th Anniversary is not simply a celebration of longevity; it is a celebration of impact, resilience, relationships and trust,” he said, expressing appreciation to members, partners and the media for their support over the years.
Established in 1996, ACAMB has been led by 10 Presidents in its 30-year history, including its premier President, the late Alhaji Kabir Dangogo, Dr. Waheed Olagunju, Hajiya Lantana Ahmed as its first female President, Mr. Lanre Alabi, Dr. Eddy Ademosu, Pastor Tunde Sofowora, Mrs. Lola Odedina, Mr. Charles Aigbe, Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa and the incumbent, Mr. Babajide Sipe.
